CDC Director Rochelle Walensky Misleads on Masks Yet Again
Rochelle Walensky purposefully misrepresents the evidence on masking and the Cochrane review.
The position of CDC director continues to be one of the most dangerously misleading in the field of public health.
Robert Redfield became notorious for his nonsensical over-reliance on masking early on in the pandemic. He first claimed that the pandemic could essentially be ended in just a matter of weeks if everyone wore masks.
Then he alleged that masks could provide better protection than vaccines, just a few short months before his organization promoted claims of 95% efficacy.
Unfortunately Redfield was merely the preview of coming attractions.
Once the Biden administration took over, they almost immediately appointed Dr. Rochelle Walensky to the position of chief propagandist.
Walensky’s tenure has been an unmitigated disaster by virtually every possible measurement.
She misled the public on the efficacy of the vaccines, with her agency repeatedly getting their estimates blatantly wrong.
Under her leadership, the CDC dramatically flip flopped on mask wearing after the public outcry from their political allies, further undermining trust in a flailing group known for poor quality research and unjustified certainty.
Now she’s back at it again, inaccurately defending permanent masking during a government hearing while lying about the substantial body of high quality evidence showing masks don’t work to stop transmission of respiratory viruses.
It’s yet another disgraceful, discrediting episode for Walensky and the CDC. And the details of her claims are profoundly, purposefully inaccurate.
