Unlike most Americans Dr. Fauci has lived a mostly charmed life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The nation’s foremost leading “expert” on infectious diseases immediately became a media darling in early 2020.
For news outlets, Fauci was a Godsend. He was the anti-Trump, someone who could be trusted and believed because he shared their political opinions.
Fauci quickly realized that he could use this to his advantage. And so he did.
He became a relentless, consistent presence on nearly every national major media program. Always repeating the same message: wear a mask, get vaccinated, force school children into masks.
The media apparently loved the message, and so they helped him sell it. Despite multiple controversies and the unequivocal failure of policies he advocated for, they treated him with kid gloves.
Whatever questions they posed served to further his agenda, not examine his mistakes.
But in recent days Fauci finally came up against hostile interviewers.
Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt and Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry were finally given the opportunity to depose Fauci about many of his decisions and problematic advocacy.
Unsurprisingly, he lied and misdirected, engaging in misdirection on multiple subjects to protect himself.
