Vaccine Efficacy Rates Rapidly Waned Long Before Omicron, Even As Mandates and Passports Proliferated
Indefensible policies based on rapidly ineffective products
One of the most important questions of the pandemic has to be in regard to the efficacy rates of COVID vaccines.
Early on the experts, vaccine manufacturers, and public health authorities set expectations extremely high.
95+% efficacy rates, we were told, were realistic and proven in real world data.
Influential individuals such as CDC head Rochelle Walensky famously told the public that vaccinated people did not carry the virus and did not get sick.
Dr. Fauci implied that the vaccines were nearly 100% effective against hospitalizations and COVID-related deaths, although that’s far from his only mistake on pandemic messaging.
The media then launched a relentless campaign of misinformation with claims about what the vaccines could do. Brilliantly summarized by nonsensical messaging that those who’d received mRNA shots - with supposedly “perfect” protection - were somehow at risk as long as any unvaccinated people remained in society.
This exact behavior is also chronicled in my new book, Illusion of Control, covering the rapid proliferation of provably incorrect messaging from those most concerned with mis- and disinformation.
But what makes these pronouncements and their resulting policies even more infuriating is that vaccine efficacy was rapidly waning to incredibly low levels as the messaging and mandates ramped up.
And all this while government “experts” conspired to completely overlook the importance of immunity from previous infection.
And data from the UK shows this waning had absolutely nothing to do with Omicron, a frequent excuse for those looking to justify “expert” failures.
