A New, Must-Watch Film Is Out Examining The Abuses Of COVID Mandates
The mask mandate extremists aren't getting away with it
It’s clear that in 2025, there’s little appetite among government officials for investigating the abuses of COVID mandates. Who’d have ever guessed that they wouldn’t want to examine the results of their own failure?
But thankfully, that purposeful ignorance doesn’t extend to those outside of government bureaucracy or the public health expert class. One such group is the “Smile Free” organization in the United Kingdom.
One of the members of that organization is Dr. Gary Sidely, a retired clinical psychologist who spent over 30 years working for the National Health Service, and made it his mission during the pandemic to fight against mask mandates in England and beyond.
I spoke to Dr. Sidley about his work on masks back in 2022.
Episode 12: Interview with Dr. Gary Sidley
Dr. Gary Sidley, retired NHS psychologist, writer and founder of the UK’s Smile Project to end mask mandates joins the podcast to discuss the impacts on mental health from lockdowns, masks and the government messaging on COVID policy.
But the “Smile Free” organization’s work didn’t end there.
This week, they’ve released a new short film on the abuses of COVID mandates, particularly masks, called “Masking Humanity.” That film examines how governments and “experts” weaponized their political beliefs to hurt the most vulnerable members of society. Forcing compliance with policies that had no basis in evidence.
Simply, it’s a must-watch.

Finally. The truth is out there.
The film opens with a review of a number of statements made by top government experts and officials on masks early on in the pandemic that correctly called out the lack of supporting evidence for masking by the general public.
Over and over again, top experts in the UK specifically said masks did not stop infections, and perhaps even more importantly, that they could actually make transmission worse by providing a false sense of security and making people touch their faces more frequently.
They explained, in detail, that they’d examined the evidence base on masking and recommended against it. So what changed? That’s what this film examines.
Importantly, an early interview with Dr. Tony Hinton, a surgeon himself, debunks one of the most oft-repeated, ridiculous, questions posed by the pro-maskers, “if masks don’t work, why do surgeons wear them?”
It’s worth watching for his answer alone.
There’s plenty more.

‘Masking Humanity’ Does Immensely Valuable Work
“Masking Humanity” has interview after interview with those who were on the front lines, speaking to healthcare personnel or social workers who would privately admit that masks had no benefits and massive risks. Including the psychological damage of never seeing smiling faces and human warmth. Or being able to openly communicate.
When imposing general mask mandates, “experts” and politicians refused to consider downsides, or conduct a risk-benefit analysis. And considering there are zero benefits, masking has only risks.
“Masking Humanity” explores those risks.
Dehydration due to masks, confusion amongst those with dementia, among many others, are finally given their due with the discussion in this film.
It also attempts to answer yet another incredibly important question: if masks had no benefits, no supporting evidence, and massive risks, why did mandates continue for so long?
These are the exact questions that those in the pro-mask lobby have no interest in examining. Which is what makes this short film so valuable. It demonstrates how agencies pass the buck, refuse to take responsibility, and relied on disproven modeling to enforce their preferred policies.
It’s extremely difficult for people to admit they were wrong, to, as the film describes, “do a u-turn” on what they said previously. But that’s the importance of films like “Masking Humanity,” to force those who promoted masks without a risk-benefit analysis, without proper evidence, to deal with the harm that they caused.
And to make sure it never happens again.
