I honestly think that half of Lorenz’s love of the mask is that she thinks she looks better with one on. Seriously. I think she has been obviously avoiding her real age and masking allowed her to hide her face save the eyes.
So for her, not only does it feed into her clearly insane neurotic takes on COVID, but it also feeds into her self hatred and insecurity about her looks.
She is the caricature of the modern western (white girl) feminist - educated, in a position of influence, neurotic, moralizing, self aggrandizing idiot.
I keep trying to understand WHY so many people lost their minds. Some, like Taylor, appear to be genuine. Neurotic, or something, but genuine. Others, like Buttigieg, seem to be exploiting the neuroticism of the Lorenzes of the world for their own purposes, including Trump hatred.
So it seems that both factors had to be present - some large number of people who were genuinely terrified and those who were able to learn how to use them.
Taylor seems to deserve at least a little compassion, even as she appears to use her unwellness to promote herself.
But Weingarten, Buttigieg, and all the rest who used people like her deserve nothing but contempt.
Blind faith and abject fear seem to paralyze some. Sadly without media telling us about all the places doing OK sans mask and places with open schools we largely we’re ignorant. Citizens had to seek better data.
